The Singapore Sling is Singapore's most famous signature cocktail. Refreshing and inimitable, the highly acclaimed alcoholic beverage is believed to be first concocted at the Long Bar, Singapore's Raffles Hotel in the early 1900s.
This all-time classic fruit punch is popular with locals and tourists alike and seems to have some variation in taste when served in different places across the country. It was told that no one knows which semblance is closest to the most authentic version which was long lost and forgotten but here's one which you might be interested to try:
Ingredients:
1 oz. London dry gin
1 oz. Bols Cherry Heering
1 oz. Bénédictine
1 oz. fresh pineapple juice
2 oz. soda water
1 dash Angostura bitters
Instructions:
Combine all ingredients except soda water and bitters in an ice-filled glass. Top with soda water, stir briefly and dash with Angostura bitters.
Singapore Sling can be experienced in many bars and restaurants in Singapore, on board Singapore airlines flights, the Singapore Flyer and of course needless to say, the birthplace of the iconic drink, Raffles Hotel.
