Watch Chefs Make Candy!

Watch these guys make candy!

If you have never tried warm, freshly hand-made candy, or watched live the whole process of making them, there is a small shop called Made in Candy rolling out fresh colourful candies on the spot at the basement of United Square along Thomson Road. Candy loving children and curiosity piqued adults are often seen gathering in the shop to watch how the candies are painstakingly hand-crafted step by step. It's fascinating to see how the different coloured blocks of scorching hot molten sugar are piece together by the chef, rolled into a huge cylindrical mound, and eventually pulled and stretched to long skinny strands which are then cut into tiny morsels of candy encircling pretty designs in the centre. And the most exciting part is of course putting the warm candy into the mouth to melt and relishing every bit of its fruity aroma and citrus essence.

These pretty candies rock! Yummy!

First steps of traditional candy-making involve adding the desired colour and flavor to the sugar syrup.

These guys are finally pulling the candy to the correct thickness...they will be knocking them into bit sizes...and then they are going to tell us to try them, hee. I'm drooling.

Candies, candies, glorious candies!
